The senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM) fired this Tuesday 8 against betting companies online and compared advertising bets to a cocaine advertisement. The statement was made during the hearing of Gabriel Galípoloappointed to command the Central Bank, on the Economic Affairs Committee.
“The guy doesn’t work, he spends the day playing and the next day he doesn’t go to work because he spent all night playing,” said the congressman. “All influencersall football players, all journalists, whoever they are, who are advertising betsthey are advertising cocaine to Brazilian families.”
Aziz also once again defended that the government withdraw all bets do ar.
Galípolo said during the hearing that it is not the BC’s responsibility to regulate gaming and betting. He stated that it is up to the institution, however, to understand the impact of gambling on consumption and family debt, in order to “explain the relationship between economic activity, expenses and the impact on inflation”.
