The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) declared, this Friday the 11th, “inadmissible” the appeal presented by the former presidential candidate, Enrique Márquez, requesting the annulment of a sentence issued by the court that validated the re-election of the president Nicolas Maduro.
Former director of the National Electoral Council for the opposition, Márquez presented the appeal last month, together with 20 Chavismo dissidents, stating that the sentence that ratified the president’s victory was marked by “unconstitutionality defects”.
In its new decision, the country’s highest court, accused of favoring the government, considered “inadmissible the request for constitutional review of the sentence”, dictated after an appeal presented by Maduro to certify his victory. According to the court, “the unquestionable integrity of the results announced by the National Electoral Council” was proven.
