UN investigators accused Israel of “war crimes and crimes against humanity” for deliberately attacking health facilities in Gaza Stripwhile torturing and killing medical personnel.
“Israel promotes an orchestrated policy of destroying Gaza’s healthcare system as part of its offensive in Gaza,” said the United Nations Independent International Commission of Investigation in a statement this Thursday 10.
The country “commits war crimes and crimes against humanity, extermination, with incessant and deliberate attacks on personnel and medical facilities,” they added.
This three-member commission, created by the Human Rights Council in May 2021 to investigate suspected violations of international law in Israel and the Palestinian territories, published its second report since war broke out in the Palestinian enclave following the attack by October 7, 2023 carried out by the Islamist movement Hamas against southern Israel.
The report highlights the mistreatment of Palestinians detained in Israel and hostages kidnapped by Hamas in Gaza, accusing both Israel and Palestinian armed groups of “torture” and sexual violence.
Israel, in turn, accused the commission of “systematic discrimination” against him and completely rejected the conclusions of the June report, which accused him of committing crimes against humanity, including the “extermination” in Gaza.
