The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyruled out this Wednesday (16) the possibility of ceding “territory” to end the war with Russiawhen presenting his “Plan for Victory” to the Kiev Parliament.

“Russia must lose the war against Ukraine. There cannot be a ‘freeze’ (of the front line). There can be no exchange that involves the territory of Ukraine or its sovereignty”, the president told deputies during the explanation of the plan, which he will also present on Thursday to the 27 countries of the European Union (EU) during a summit meeting.

Zelensky advocated as part of the plan the mobilization of non-nuclear deterrence capabilities in his country.

“Ukraine proposes to install on its territory a full set of non-nuclear strategic deterrence measures, which will be sufficient to protect Ukraine from any military threat from Russia,” he said.

The president said details of the proposal were included in a “secret annex” to his victory plan, which he transmitted to the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany.

He also again called on Western allies to allow the use of long-range weapons against Russia, whose use is currently restricted.

Zelensky called on “allies to remove restrictions on the use of long-range weapons throughout the Russian-occupied territory of Ukraine and on Russian territory”, on “the enemy’s military infrastructure” and for more help to “equip our brigades reserve”.

Russia, which invaded Ukraine at the end of February 2022, rejected the victory plan presented by Zelensky and stated that Kiev must “wake up”.

“The only possible peace plan is for the Kiev regime to understand that its policy lacks perspective and it is necessary for it to wake up,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov told the press.

The Russian Defense Ministry also announced on Wednesday that the country’s forces conquered the towns of Nevske, in the Luhansk region, in eastern Ukraine, and Krasni Yar, 12 kilometers from Pokrovsk, a city that has strategic importance for the Ukrainian Army.
