Another offensive, in Barja, a Sunni city in the Chouf region, south of the capital, ended with four dead and 18 injured. A third attack resulted in two deaths and four injuries on the north coast, in Deir Billa, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, 40 countries on Saturday expressed their support for the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, Finul, and called for the protection of the peacekeepers, five of whom were injured in the last 48 hours.
“We ask the parties to the conflict to respect the presence of Finul, which includes guaranteeing the safety of all its employees, at all times”, wrote the 34 countries that contribute to the peacekeeping force and 6 other States, in a statement published on account in the X of Poland’s mission to the United Nations.
