A Gerdau reported this Friday (6) that its subsidiary Gerdau Aços Longos and Newave Energia, in which it has an indirect stake, will build a new solar energy generation park in Barro Alto, in the State of Goiás.
According to a statement from the steel company to the market, the solar park will have around 452 megawatt-peak (MWp) of total capacity and will be divided into seven specific purpose companies (SPEs), of which three will be acquired by Gerdau, with a contribution of around R$600 million.
Gerdau must also make an additional investment of R$41 million in Newave Energia, through the subsidiary Gerdau Next, to increase its stake in the company to 40%.
The completion of the Barro Alto Solar Park, which adds up to investments of R$ 1.3 billionis scheduled for the first half of 2026, according to Gerdau.
