The second round of 2024 municipal elections will be this Sunday, October 27thin 15 capitals and 36 other cities, totaling 51 municipalities. The voting time adopted will be that of Brasília, from 8am to 5pmbut in some cities the local time is different due to the time zone.

In four cities — Campo Grande (MS), Cuiabá (MT), Porto Velho (RO) and Manaus (AM) — voting will take place at local time. 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is the first time that a municipal election has been held with a unified schedule throughout Brazil. The measure had already been applied in the 2022 elections and was maintained for this year’s election.

According to the Federal Constitution, there can only be a second round for the mayoral race in municipalities with more than 200 thousand voters. For this to occur, it was necessary that no candidate or candidate for the position had obtained more than half of the valid votes (given only to candidates) in the first round. In this case, the two competitors with the most votes in the first stage compete in the second round.

In total, 87 men and 15 women are competing for the position of mayor in the municipalities that will have a second round. See below:
