The consortium formed by China and the group of construction companies Way Brazil This Thursday, the company won the concession auction for a 438-kilometer stretch of the BR-262/MG highway, known as Rota do Zebu, between Uberaba (MG) and Betim (MG).
The group won the competition organized by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) in the hands-free stage against the BTG Pactualoffering a 15.3% discount on the basic toll rate.

The consortium will have to spend around R$4.4 billion in investments for improvements that include highway duplication, implementation of additional lanes and marginal roads, in addition to R$4.1 billion in operating costs. The concession contract is for 30 years.
The kilometers auctioned are currently part of a section under concession from Triunfo Concebra, in the process of being returned, which covers the federal highways BR-060/153 and 262 DF/GO/MG.
As this is a section in the return phase, the proposal includes the operational transition between Triunfo and the new concessionaire. The Kinea/Way group must now prepare a transition plan, and the contract is expected to be signed in the first quarter of next year.

The consortium will be responsible for 44 kilometers of duplication and 169 kilometers of additional lanes, in addition to installing 10 viaducts.
With the auction, Minas Gerais has accumulated 40 billion reais in investments planned for the coming years in the highway sector alone, said Rafael Vitale, general director of ANTT after the auction.
