BYD will begin producing its first vehicles at the Camaçari (BA) factory in March next year, as announced this Monday to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in a meeting with the automaker’s executive president in the Americas, Stella Li, according to Planalto.
BYD will produce its first flex hybrid system in Brazil (with an engine running on electricity, gasoline and ethanol), the government said in a statement, after a meeting that also included the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, the Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho , the governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT), among other authorities.
BYD estimates that it will produce 150,000 vehicles by the end of 2025, and reach 300,000 per year by the end of 2026. The cars will be destined mainly for the Brazilian and South American markets, said the ministry.
