Boeing workers on the West Coast of the United States on Monday accepted a proposed new labor contract, ending a seven-week strike that halted most jet production and worsened the company’s financial crisis.
The union said members voted 59% in favor of the new contract, which includes a 38% pay increase over four years. The proposal was accepted after rejecting two previous offers made by the company in recent weeks.
“This is a victory. We can keep our heads up,” Jon Holden, the union’s lead negotiator, told members after the results were announced. “Now it is our duty to get back to work.”
