The spokesperson for the Presidency of Argentina, Manuel Adorni, stated this Thursday 17 that the government of Javier Miley analyzes the extradition requests of Brazilians investigated for involvement in the coup acts of January 8th of 2023.
Minister of the Federal Supreme Court Alexandre de Moraes determined on Tuesday 15th the extradition of 63 people on the run in Argentine territory.
“The order arrived yesterday. Therefore, the corresponding areas began to analyze it to give the outcome that we consider should be given”, Adorni declared to journalists at Casa Rosada. “I don’t have a concrete answer to give, because it’s very recent.”
Brazil and Argentina are signatories to the Extradition Agreement between the States Parties to Mercosur, which provides for “reciprocally handing over” people who “are in their respective territories and who are wanted by the competent authorities of another State Party”.
The STF has already sentenced more than 200 participants of January 8th. They are responsible for armed criminal association, qualified damage, deterioration of listed property, violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law and coup d’état.
