O second round of the 2024 municipal elections will be held this Sunday (27) in 51 municipalities across the country. In total, almost 34 million registered voters in these cities are eligible to vote.
The elections will take place in 15 capitals and in another 36 municipalities with more than 200 thousand voters. In these locations, no candidate for mayor in the first round achieved an absolute majority in the vote that took place in the 1st round, on October 6th. The two candidates with the highest number of votes went to the second round.
In this new phase of the elections, the dispute starts again from scratch. The votes obtained by the candidates do not count, and voters will have to choose between the two competitors by entering the candidate’s respective number in the electronic ballot box.
If you enter any other number that does not correspond to the candidates involved in the second round, the vote will be canceled. The elected mayor will be the candidate who obtains the highest number of votes among the valid votes (excluding blanks and nulls).
