The Constitution and Justice Commission of the Senate approved, this Wednesday the 16th, a project that increases the penalty for sexual crimes committed by health professionals in the exercise of their role.
The text will go to the Chamber of Deputies, unless there is an appeal for analysis by the plenary.
The proposal is from the senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO). For the rapporteur, Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), the punishment for all crimes against sexual dignity provided for in the Penal Code may increase from a third to a half.
“Rape carried out by a healthcare professional to the detriment of a person undergoing clinical or hospital care or treatment is repugnant conduct that deserves an increased criminal response,” said the rapporteur.
The project is analyzed together with others that deal with the same topic: one by senator Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE); one from former senator Simone Tebet, current Minister of Planning, and the other from senator Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS).
