A survey of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) identified twelve brands of olive oil on sale in the Brazilian market that were unfit for consumption due to fraud.

The technical analysis identified the presence of different vegetable oils in the composition of the products, which compromises quality and safety. The department warns of a risk to the health of consumers, as there is no clarity about the origin.

The brands with problems are Grego Santorini; La Ventosa; Alonso; D’Oliveira Farms; Olivas Del Tango; Vila Real; Quinta de Aveiro; Vincenzo; Don Alejandro; Almazara; Escarpa das Oliveiras; and Garcia Torres. The list at the end of this text provides detailed information about the batches and locations where the products were in circulation.

The establishments where the analyzed vials were found must immediately suspend sales. The sale of items unfit for consumption is considered a serious offense.

The ministry points out that there are some flags on the list with CNPJs suspended or downloaded by the Federal Revenuewhich increases suspicion of fraud.
