The production of iron ore in Vale grew 5.5% in the third quarter compared to the same period in 2023, for the highest volume in almost six years, driven by improvements in operational performance in the S11D, Itabira and Brucutu mining complexes.
One of the main iron ore producers in the world, Vale produced 90.97 million tons of the commodity between July and September, the mining company reported.
Sales grew 1.6%, to 81.84 million tons.
“Vale’s performance in the third quarter was marked by record iron ore production since the fourth quarter of 2018 and the increase in production guidance for 2024,” said the company, citing a previously announced review of the target for the year. .
The S11D mine, in Pará, produced 22.09 million tons in the third quarter, an increase of 14.2% compared to the same period a year earlier, Vale reported.
