Petrobras signed an agreement with Vale on Friday to supply the mining company with diesel co-processed with vegetable oil and marine fuel with renewable content, two sources with knowledge of the negotiation told Reuters on Friday.
The agreement will begin with the supply of R diesel for the mining company’s trucks and locomotives, in a testing phase, the sources said, on condition of anonymity.
Subsequently, the prospect is that there will also be the supply of marine fuel with renewable content for vessels used by Vale, they added.
“It is a union that promises to be lasting between the two largest companies in the country… in the direction of decarbonization and greener products,” one of the sources told Reuters.
When contacted by Reuters, both companies did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
